Guestbook - This device enables your site visitors to make written comments on a specially designed page on your Web site. The page is automatically updated to display new comments as they are added and can be edited manually if any unwanted comments are discovered. It works very much like a hotel Guestbook in that new visitors can scroll back through to read previous entries, and it can lead to a helpul exchange of information. This is a useful way of encouraging contact separately to enquiries made via the Enquiry Form itself.
Advertising Panels - These are areas on your Web site on which you can host advertisement material for third party organisations. These could be companies, for example, who sell products which complement your own product range, or who supply allied services. This is a good opportunity to earn revenue simply from the fact that you have a space on the Web. We make a charge, as below, for designing the advertisements and incorporating them into your pages, but your charge to third parties is entirely at your own discretion. The advertisements can be in the form of rolling banners or static displays and you can have more than one advertiser, with advertisements pre-set to change over periodically.
Password Protection - This is a way of restricting access to all or part of your site and it is a system in use on many sites on the Web. It means that visitors have to provide (genuine) email addresses before being issued a password with which to enter the rest of the site. This enables you as the site owner to know who your visitors are and where they came from. It can be particularly relevant on a site which contains new or sensitive product information, on sites which offer an on-line ordering facility, or on any site where there is a need for security of information.
Improving Site Promotion
Indexing: Aside from any off-Net promotion which you are doing, through using your Web address on as many forms of marketing material as possible, it is necessary to index the site on the Web itself. Some basic level indexing is usually done by BIS on completion of a client site. However, it is such an important part of getting your Web site visited and raising its overall profile, that we recommed re-indexing frequently (say once a month). It is hard within certain business sectors to get a good position in the indexes, simply because of the volume of Web material that these sectors contain. In an effort to remedy this, we can submit your site to around 250 indexes worldwide, and repeat the exercise as often as you wish. We are very happy to provide telephone or email consultation about the whole area of effective site promotion so please do contact us at any time.
Web Stats:We can provide a monthly breakdown of the number of people who have accessed your web site and which pages they have visited. This gives a good indication of the way your site is performing, which pages are the most frequently visited and whether visitors always proceed to the Enquiry Form or simply browse around and then exit. We can provide this Stats Report on a one-off basis and then - if you wish - you may keep the program for a small monthly charge and use it in-house whenever you want to.
Enhancing Site Facilities
We now have an in-house capability for the authoring of CGI (Common Gateway Interface) scripts and are thus able to provide a range of services related to this form of programming. A huge variety of features can be created on Web sites through the use of CGI and please contact us if you have a particular request or query. Meantime, the following applications should give you an idea of the scope available
