SECOND VIEW OF DAM NEAR BRECON

This is the second of our two views of Cray Reservoir. The workings of the Reservoir are more obvious in this shot, and I like the picture because it came out with something of an oil painting feel to it. As mentioned before, this water can be seen from the A4067 Sennybridge - Ystradgynlais road, and it is worth noting some other features of interest which can also be seen along this route. Continuing past the Reservioir, going south on the 4067, you will eventually go through a sort of mini mountain-pass, where you have steep cliffs rising to your right and falling away to your left. After a few miles, you will see ahead of you a most unusual skyline as the normal soft and rolling hills have in their midst a huge, lumpy, craggy feature which is quite at odds with its surroundings. In this area you aill also see Dan Yr Ogof Show Caves and the magnificent Craig Y Nos Castle, one time home of the Opera Singer Adelina Patti. The Caves can be enjoyed at all times and are possibly a particularly good solution for a wet weather outing , whilst the Country Park surrounding the Castle is a joy in reasonable to fine weather.
